Mut

Deity

As a member of the Theban triad, which also consisted of her husband Amen and son Khonsu, the vulture goddess Mut was seen as the divine mother of the king. She is usually represented as a woman wearing a long dress and a vulture headdress surmounted by the white crown of Upper Egypt or the Double Crown of Upper and Lower Egypt, and holding a papyrus scepter symbolizing Upper Egypt. There is a temple dedicated to her at Karnak.
