The tomb of Queen Nefertari (QV 66) photographed during excavations. From the left, the queen plays senet and her ba sits upon a shrine (middle) while she is in the act of worship (right). Below are texts from Spell 17 of the Book of the Dead. In the center are the twin lions of the god Aker who protect the horizon, the benu-bird of Re, Queen Nefertari's mummy on a funerary pyre protected by Nephthys and Isis in their kite forms, and finally the god Heh kneeling. A dog-legged area with five niches painted with shrines and framed with a cavetto cornice extends from the lower two sides of the room. The ceiling's stars are visible.
