(#14689)

Eldest son of Merenptah and Commander of the Army during his father’s reign; his accession to the throne was apparently delayed by the three or four year reign of Amenmeses. Once crowned, Sety II ruled for six years. His monuments are known from Thebes, Karnak, and the Valley of the Kings, where he cut his tomb KV 15. His Memorial Temple has never been found. Inscriptions from his reign have been found at sites in Nubia and in Sinai.
