Deity
10072.jpg
Book of Gates, fourth division (P)/fifth hour (H), scene 26: sun god Ra with crew in boat.
(#10072)

Heliopolitan sun god with whom many other gods were later joined. He was usually represented as a hawk-headed human figure wearing a sun disk headdress. In the Netherworld he was a ram-headed figure and sailed in the solar Bark. The Litany of Ra, which celebrates Ra's identification with Osiris, can be seen on the walls of royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
