Bark

Term

A boat used to transport Egyptian deities from one shrine to another. Barks resembled Nile boats whose sterns were decorated with a standard-like form of the god to whom they belonged. Amidship stood a shrine that housed the cult image. Solar barks were also said to be used by the sun on its journeys through the daytime and nighttime skies.
